"João Madeira on double bass has long been one of the corifei of improvised music in Portugal. With the trio Galmadrua together with Paulo Galão on soprano sax and Mario Rua on drums he meets for this recording, made in the studio in Lisbon in July 2021, the French saxophonist Michel Stawicki on tenor sax. It is a long improvisation, 47 minutes, without interruption, which has been given the name of Lis-Li. The four ride for long stretches the path indicated by the New Thing in the sixties, but not only. In the long piece, the solos of the saxophonists have space, often together, creating a perfect example of collective improssisazione, but also the double bass player together with the drummer, for example around minute 28, rich as they are in technical possibilities, make this record interesting when the saxophonists they allow themselves a moment of quiet.
